Dighi is where we decided to set up Samla Trading Pune. It’s an area that’s seen a lot of change lately, but it still feels like home to us. Our daily routine involves a lot of checking lists and moving stock around the floor. We aren't a huge operation with fancy logos or a marketing department. We are just a group of people in Pune trying to make a living by trading goods. The warehouse space in Dighi can get pretty warm in the afternoons, so we usually have the big doors open to catch whatever breeze there is. There’s always a truck backing in or a delivery bike pulling up outside. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers, arguing about prices or asking where a shipment has gotten to. It’s messy work sometimes, dealing with cardboard boxes and packing tape every single day. We keep a small office area tucked in the corner with a computer that’s a bit slow, but it gets the job done eventually. Our desks are usually covered in invoices and half-empty cups of tea. We don’t try to be something we’re not. We just show up every morning, unlock the gates, and get to work. It’s practical, honest work that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday without much fuss or fanfare. We know our neighbors and the truck drivers by name, and that's enough for us.
