It gets pretty warm in here when the afternoon sun hits the front of the shop in Khondhwa. We spend a lot of time just wiping down the counters and making sure the milk stays cold in the fridge. Most people know us because they walk past every day on their way to work or the market. It is not a huge place, just a few spots to sit and wait while we get the grinder going. Sometimes the machine acts up or we run out of a certain type of bean, but that is just how things go in a small shop. We keep the floor swept, though with people coming in and out from the street, it is hard to stay ahead of the dirt. On 1 2, there is always something happening outside. You hear the traffic and the horns while you sit here. We have the regular jars lined up on the shelves and we try to keep the chairs in some kind of order. It is mostly just about getting through the morning rush without spilling anything too important. The lights are a bit dim in the back, but people do not seem to mind much. We have some plants that we forget to water sometimes, and the fridge hums a little louder than it probably should. We just show up, turn on the lights, and start the day. There is not much to it besides making the coffee.
