We’ve got Chai Express set up over in Kothrud at number 15. It’s a small spot, really just enough room to boil the tea and serve it out to whoever is passing by. We start early because people around here need their tea before they head off to work or catch the bus. The stove is going pretty much all day long. We don't have a lot of space for sitting, so most folks just stand around and talk for a few minutes before moving on. It’s a simple setup with just the basic pots and glasses. Sometimes we run out of milk or sugar and have to run to the shop nearby, but we usually stay on top of it. My friend and I take turns running the place so one of us can get a break. Kothrud 15 is a busy area, so there’s always something to look at while the tea is brewing. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just hot tea served in glass cups. We keep the place as clean as we can, though the tea stains are hard to get off the counter sometimes. It’s a steady rhythm every day. We know when the crowds will come and when it will be quiet. It’s just a normal part of the day for us. We close up when the last pot is finished.
