Cafe Creme

The shop is in a corner of Kothrud where there's always something going on outside. We spend a lot of our time behind the counter making different kinds of chocolate drinks and coffee. The blender makes a lot of noise, so sometimes it's hard to hear what people are saying across the counter. We have these small tables that need wiping down every ten minutes because people are always coming and going. Cafe Creme is a place where students usually hang out after their classes are done for the day. I spend a lot of my afternoon making sure the fridge is stocked with enough milk and cream. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck in the Kothrud traffic, which makes things a bit stressful for us. The walls are decorated simply, nothing too special, just enough to make it feel okay to sit for a bit. We keep the lights a bit dim when it’s hot outside to make it feel cooler. There is always a pile of napkins that needs folding in the back room. My apron usually ends up with a few chocolate stains by the end of my shift. It is just a regular job for us, keeping the place clean and serving whatever people order from the menu board. When the rainy season starts, the floor gets muddy from the boots, so the mop is never far away.
