Working here at the Shindewadi spot is different from the city shops. We are right by the Bharat Petrol Pump, so we see a lot of people who are just passing through on the highway. Most of them are tired from driving and just want to sit down for a bit in the air conditioning. The place gets dusty because of the road, so I’m always wiping the tables down. At Post Varve can get pretty quiet at night, but during the day it’s constant noise from the trucks moving past. I spend my shift making drinks and checking the fridge. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the generator to kick in. It's not a fancy life, but it keeps us busy. People ask for directions a lot since we are a recognizable landmark near Ratan Pole. We have the usual chairs and the machine makes that loud steaming sound all day long. My coworkers and I usually talk about what we're going to eat for dinner while we wait for customers to come in. It's a lot of the same thing every day, really. Cleaning the floors, filling up the sugar packets, and watching the cars go by outside the window. It is just a regular job at a regular stop along the route. Nothing too crazy happens most of the time, just travelers needing a break from the road before they reach their destination.
