Borade Bandhu Ambewale

Our place is on R T O Road in Nigdi, in the Marol Kinara Building. We are known for our mangoes, which is what the Ambewale part of our name is about. The work we do changes with the seasons. When the fruit is ready, the shop is packed with crates and the smell of ripe mangoes fills the whole street. It gets very hectic during those months. We are constantly moving boxes and checking the quality of the fruit. Nigdi is a busy area, and being near the R T O means there are always people moving about. The building itself is just a regular spot, nothing special to look at from the outside. Inside, it’s all about the produce. We don't have fancy displays or sales pitches. We just put the crates out and let people see what we have. Some days we are up late sorting through the latest shipment that came in from the farms. It’s hard work, especially when the heat is high. We have to be careful with how we handle the fruit so nothing gets spoiled. When it’s not mango season, things are a lot quieter and we take that time to fix up the shop or plan for the next year. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time now.
