Our shop is right in Allur Village, part of the Dasanapura area. The machines here are pretty loud most of the time. We have been working at this spot for a while now. The layout is a bit cramped, especially when we have a lot of metal coming in, but we know where every tool is kept. Most of our day is spent fixing things that people bring in from around the Pune Cantonment Board. It gets really dusty in the afternoons when the wind picks up around Nisarg Niwas. We don’t have a fancy office or any plush chairs. Just some wooden benches and the heavy tools we use every single day. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to sit and wait it out. That's just how it is here. People stop by to ask if we can weld something small or cut a piece of steel for them. We usually say yes if the bench is clear. My hands are almost always covered in grease by the time lunch rolls around. It’s hard work, but it keeps the lights on. The floor is old concrete and stained with oil from years of different jobs. We have a small radio that plays in the corner, though you can barely hear it over the grinding. Neighbors from the Slv Layout walk past and wave while we work. It’s not a big operation, just a few of us trying to get things done right.
