We are tucked away in Ashirwad Apartment, which is part of the Panchawati Society at 140 Sadashiv Peth. It is on Refinery Road, not too far from Mhatre Bridge. This part of town is usually quite busy, but our little corner is where we get the actual engineering work done. The space is a bit cramped because we have all our tools and various bits of metal stored in every available nook and cranny. We have been here for a long time, and the neighbors all know us. It is a regular walk-up place where people come when they have a problem with a machine or need a specific part made. We do not use any big words to describe what we do; we just fix things and build things. Sometimes the machines are loud, and we have to apologize to the people living nearby, but they are used to it by now. The commute across Mhatre Bridge can be slow during rush hour, but once we are here, we just settle into the routine. It is a lot of manual work, measuring twice and cutting once, that kind of thing. We are not a big corporation with departments; it is just a few of us making sure the orders are correct. The walls have old calendars and notes scribbled on them. It is our workspace, and it serves us well enough for the type of engineering we handle every day. It is just a practical way to run a shop.
