Our little office for archints is inside Krishna Heights, which is right across from the Gaonkoas Maruti Temple in Kasaba Peth. It’s a very old and busy part of Pune, which we actually quite like. We are on the second floor of the B-wing, in flat 21. If you know where the temple is, you can’t miss us. We do architecture work, plain and simple. We spend our time working on designs and trying to make the most out of every square foot. In an area like Kasaba Peth, space is always a bit of a challenge, so we get a lot of practice with that. It’s a small operation here. We share the space and keep things pretty informal. You’ll usually find us with a cup of tea, looking over some drawings or arguing about where a wall should go. We don’t have any big signs or flashy lights outside. Most of our work comes from word of mouth in the neighborhood. We know the local building styles and the history of this area well. It feels good to work in a place with so much character. We just try to provide solid plans for whoever needs them, whether it’s a small shop or someone fixing up their old family home. Being right across from the temple means there's always a bit of noise and activity, which keeps us from getting bored. We've had to learn how to design for these narrow plots that are common in this part of the city. It's quite a challenge compared to the big open spaces in the newer areas. We just try to be helpful to the neighbors.
