Vidhyalakshmi Matric Higher Secondary School

Vidhyalakshmi Matric Higher Secondary School is run out of House No 19 on Sardar Patel Path. This is right in the Boring Road area of Patliputra, Patna. Since we are in a house, it has a bit of a different feel than those big institutional buildings you see elsewhere. It feels more like a home, which I think the kids appreciate. Sardar Patel Path can get quite jammed with cars and bikes, especially in the afternoon, but once you step inside the gates, it’s a bit quieter. We have rooms converted into classrooms and we use every bit of space we have. Most of our students live within walking distance or a short rickshaw ride away. The neighborhood is mostly residential, so we try to be quiet neighbors, though school kids aren't always the quietest. We don't have a giant playground, but we find ways to keep the students active. Our teachers usually stay for lunch and chat in the small staff area. There is a lot of history in this house and in this street. We aren't some big chain school with a corporate office in another city. We are just here on Boring Road doing what we’ve been doing for years. It’s a simple life here, focused on the books and the daily schedule. We like the personal feel of being in a real house in a real neighborhood where everyone knows each other.
