Elite Footwear is another one of those shops you’ll find if you’re wandering through the Mogalpura area of Patna City. We are in the same neighborhood as some of the other shoe makers, which makes sense because this is where the trade happens. Our place is simple. We don't have a big glass front or air conditioning that stays on all day. It’s mostly just shelves filled with footwear and a counter where we talk to people. Bihar can be a busy place, and Patna City is the heart of that chaos. We’ve been operating here for a while, just trying to provide what people are looking for. We don't have a grand history to talk about, just years of showing up and opening the doors. The staff here is small, mostly just a couple of us who have been around for a long time. We know the local tastes and what kind of soles hold up on these roads. Sometimes it gets dusty, and we have to wipe everything down twice a day. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s our job. We see a lot of the same faces coming back, which is nice. We don't do much advertising; word of mouth in Jalwa Toli usually does the trick for us. It’s a decent life, working with shoes and staying connected to the community here. We just keep the lights on and keep the stock moving through the shop even on hot days.
