A.S.Patna Central School

Being right off the New Byepass Road in Patna means there is always noise from the traffic. Sudarshan Vihar is a busy area, and New Jaganpura has grown so much lately. A.S.Patna Central School is tucked in there, and every morning is a bit of a scramble with the buses and the rickshaws trying to navigate the narrow lanes. We have seen the city change around us. The dust from the bypass is a constant battle, but we manage to keep the place tidy. Inside the gates, it is a bit more organized. We have rows of desks and blackboards that have seen many years of use. Our staff room is usually a mess of notebooks and half-empty water bottles. We talk about the traffic a lot. It is a common topic here. The kids do not seem to mind the city noise, they just play and shout like they are in the middle of a field. We try to keep the fans running when the Bihar electricity behaves itself. Lunchtime is the loudest part of the day, with everyone sharing food and talking at once. It is a typical Patna school. Nothing too special to look at from the outside, but it is where we spend most of our lives. We know the shopkeepers nearby and the guys who sell snacks at the corner. It is just home for us and the local families around.
