If you ever find yourself walking through YPS Market here in Patiala, you’ll find us at Shop No. 5. Ambala Chat House has been around for a bit, mostly serving up the kind of stuff people like to eat when they’re out shopping or just hanging around in the evening. It’s loud and crowded in the market, which is just part of the experience. We make a lot of different things, from spicy snacks to the sweeter bits that people crave. The kitchen is small, and sometimes we run out of chairs when it gets really packed, but nobody seems to mind much. We just put out what we’ve got. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you might see the same faces every time you come in. We don’t have any big posters or fancy lights, just the food sitting there ready to go. Sometimes the floor gets a little messy when the rush hits, but we clean it up when things quiet down. We use the same recipes we’ve had since the start. People come for a quick bite and then move on with their day. It’s not a place where you sit for hours, but it does the job. My cousins help out on the weekends when it gets extra busy. We’re just a small spot in a big market, doing our thing every day for the local crowd.
