About St Joseph Convent Secondary School – Education in Pathankot
Our school is situated on Gurdaspur Road in Pathankot. It’s a long road that leads out of town, so we get a lot of trucks and long-distance buses passing by our main gate. The campus is quite large, with several different wings for different grades. We have a lot of old trees on the grounds that provide some shade during the hot months. The buildings are painted in a standard way, and the paint is peeling a bit in some corners where the rain hits it hard. Students come from all over Pathankot and even some nearby villages. Every morning, the school buses line up in the driveway, and it’s a lot of noise and shouting until everyone gets into their classrooms. We have a big bell that rings to tell everyone when the periods change. The staff room is a busy place where there is always a pot of tea on the go. We spend our days marking papers and talking about the lesson plans. The windows in the classrooms are large, so we get plenty of light, but they also let in the sound of the wind. Pathankot can get quite cold in the winter, so we all wrap up in heavy sweaters. It is a solid, old-fashioned school environment. Nothing too modern or flashy, just a place where teachers teach and students learn. At the end of the day, once the buses leave, the whole place feels very empty and still.
