Mehasi Farmers Producer Company Limited

Out here in Mehsi, things move at their own pace. We set up this producer company right in the village because this is where the work is. East Champaran has always been a place where people know the value of a hard day's labor. We aren't doing anything fancy. We just gather up what the local farmers grow and try to make sure it gets where it needs to go. Sometimes the storage is a bit tight, or we have to wait on a truck that’s running late, but we get it done. It’s a group effort, really. Everyone knows everyone else around here, so there’s a lot of trust involved. We don't use big words or have complicated meetings. Usually, we just stand around and decide what needs doing next. The soil here in Mehsi is good, but it takes work to keep it that way. We spend a lot of time talking about the rain and the markets. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s ours. We’re just a bunch of neighbors who decided that working together was better than working alone. You can find us pretty easily if you’re in the block. We’re usually busy with something or other, but there’s always time for a quick chat. It’s about keeping the community going and making sure we can all stay on our land. That's the main thing for us.
