Gunpal Farmer Producer Company is based out of Village Kirmach. We operate from the premises of Smt. Mewa Devi. If you look at the land records, it’s under Khewat number 342 and Khtoni number 430. It’s a rural area where farming is basically everything. We started this because the local farmers needed a way to work together. It’s not some big city operation. We sit on plastic chairs in the courtyard and talk about fertilizer prices or how the weather is going to affect the wheat crops. Kirmach is a place where everyone knows everyone’s business, so we have to be honest about what we do. The office is really just a room with some files and a computer that gets dusty no matter how much we clean it. We spend more time walking the fields than sitting behind a desk. There’s always someone stopping by to ask for advice or to see when the next meeting is. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy website. Most of our members are just neighbors who have been farming these lands for generations. We try to help each other out when the market prices are low or when someone’s equipment breaks down. It’s a lot of manual labor and long hours during harvest time. We just take it one day at a time and try to make sure the village farmers get a fair shake. Working together just makes more sense than trying to do it all alone in this village.
