It is pretty busy here in Calangute. We have been running this small travel spot for a good while now. The office is right in the heart of things in Goa, so there is always noise from the street and people walking by heading to the beach. It is not a big corporate setup or anything like that. Just a few desks, some old maps tacked to the wall, and a lot of notebooks where we jot things down. Sometimes the fan makes a bit of a clicking sound but we are used to it. My cousin and I mostly handle everything. We spend a lot of time on the phone trying to get things sorted for people who want to see the sights or need a car for the day. Living in Goa all our lives makes it easier because we know which roads are blocked or where the police usually stand. It gets really hot in the afternoons so we usually have some cold water ready for anyone who walks in. We are just local people trying to make a living. There is no fancy lobby or uniforms here. We just wear what is comfortable and try to keep the paperwork straight. Usually, the day starts slow with a cup of tea from the stall across the road and then it picks up once the tourists wake up. It’s a lot of work but it keeps us busy and we like talking to the different people who stop by our little corner.
