Farmanant Producer Company Limited is located in the village of Gumthala Garhu. Jodhbeer Singh is the person who looks after the records and the main office there. We are just a group of local producers who decided to come together. Gumthala Garhu (39) is our home and we have been here for a long time. The work we do isn't very glamorous, it involves a lot of dirt and long days under the sun. We produce various things depending on what our members are growing at the time. Jodhbeer helps us coordinate who is growing what so we don't all end up with the same thing at once. It took us a while to get the company name registered and all that, but it has been worth it to have our own identity. We meet up at the village address to discuss the costs of fertilizer and where we can get the best deals on equipment. Most of our meetings involve a lot of tea and loud talking because we all have different opinions on how to do things. But at the end of the day, we are all neighbors and we want the same thing. We don't have any fancy mission statements, we just want to keep farming and make a decent living from our land in Gumthala Garhu. It's a tough way to live sometimes but we are used to it and wouldn't want to be anywhere else really.
