Karkoli Farmer Producer Company Limited is in Panchwati Colony, Samalkha. It is in Panipat. This company is run from Satpal’s house in the colony. Samalkha is a busy little town. Even though we are in a colony, we are all about farming. Most of our members have land nearby or in the surrounding villages. We meet up at Satpal’s place to discuss what we are going to do for the season. It’s easier to have one spot where we keep the books and meet the buyers. Panipat is close by, so we go there often for the big markets. We are just a group of local guys who know each other well. We don't use big words or have fancy brochures. If we have a problem, we sit down and talk it out over some tea. The work is hard, but it’s what we have always done. The weather can be a bit unpredictable, but that’s farming for you. We just try to support each other. Some days are better than others. We aren't a big corporation with bosses in suits. We are the bosses and the workers too. It’s a practical way to run things. We just keep moving forward, one day at a time, and hope the crops do well. It feels right to work together like this. We have been here for years and hope to stay.
