Our place is on Sojat Road in the Main Market and it is usually full of stacked pipes and big rolls of colored cloth. Running Sidhi Vinayak Tent House and the Marwari Safa House keeps us on our feet quite a bit. One day we are loading a truck with heavy tent poles and the next we are sitting down trying to get the folds of a Safa just right. Those turbans take a lot of patience to tie properly and people come to us when they have a big wedding or a family event. The shop stays crowded because the wedding season brings in so much work at once. All kinds of bright fabrics like pinks and yellows are lying around. Sometimes we are out late at night setting up lights and stages in different villages. It’s tiring work and our hands get rough from handling the ropes and the metal frames. When things are quiet, we just sit in the shop and organize the decorations. The market noise is always there in the background but we are used to it by now. People just know us from seeing our tents at local parties rather than any big ads. It is a family-run kind of thing and we just do what needs to be done for the next function that comes up on the calendar.
