Mayank Mobile Shop

At Shivaji Nagar BS-21, Mayank Mobile Shop is where I spend most of my waking hours. The shop is filled with the glow of LED lights from the glass display cases. I usually have a screwdriver in my hand or I am trying to peel a stubborn sticker off a new phone case. We have rows of colorful covers on the walls that make the place look bright and busy. Shivaji Nagar is a crowded area, so there is always someone coming in asking about a data plan or wanting to look at a second-hand phone. I keep a small television in the corner mostly for the noise so it doesn't feel too quiet when the street calms down. The workbench in the back is covered in old parts and soldering tools. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when we have boxes of new inventory delivered, and we have to stack them high near the entrance. I like talking to the regulars who come in just to see what’s new or to get help with an app that isn't working right on their old phone. The glass on the front counter gets fingerprints on it all day, so I’m constantly wiping it down with a yellow rag. It’s not a big corporate store, just a local spot where we know people’s names. By the time we pull the shutter down at night, I’m ready for some rest.
