We call it a clinic because that is mostly what we do—we fix phones that are acting up. We are right in the Rani Main Bazar, so it is easy for anyone to drop by. Most people come in with a cracked screen or a phone that won't charge anymore. We sit at the back with our screwdrivers and magnifying glasses. It takes a steady hand and some patience. The main bazaar is always full of energy. You can hear the vegetable sellers shouting and the bells from the temple nearby. Our shop is tucked between a few others. We have been here long enough that we don't really need a big sign. People just know where Prem Mobiles is. We have a glass counter at the front where we keep some chargers and memory cards. It’s not a polished showroom. It’s a workplace. There are often spare parts in little plastic bins and wires hanging from the wall. We try to get things done as fast as we can because people can't live without their phones these days. Sometimes a repair is easy, sometimes it takes all afternoon. We don't promise things we can't do. If it's broken beyond help, we just say so. People appreciate that honesty. When the sun sets, we pack up our tools, pull down the metal shutter, and head home like everyone else in the bazaar. It is a long day but we are used to it.
