Harsh Disposal & Plastic Traders is right by the Old Bus Stand and it is a very busy spot to be in. We deal with a lot of plastic items like cups, plates, and bags that people need for parties or for their own small stalls. Because we are near the bus stand, there are always big buses idling outside, and the smell of diesel often drifts into the shop. We have stacks of goods piled high, sometimes reaching almost to the ceiling, so you have to be careful when walking through the aisles. It is more of a warehouse feel than a regular shop. I spend a lot of time loading boxes onto rickshaws or helping people carry heavy bundles of plastic to their cars. The floor is usually covered with scraps of packing tape and bits of cardboard. It is a practical business and we don't worry much about how the items are displayed as long as we can get to them quickly. The Old Bus Stand is a landmark that everyone knows, so it is easy to tell people where to find us. It can be quite chaotic when three or four different customers are all asking for different sizes of containers at once. My shirt is usually sweaty by noon because of all the lifting and moving of stock. It is a loud, crowded, and busy place, but it keeps the days moving along fast.
