Chede Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in Sarola, which is in the Washi taluka of Osmanabad. Our main point of contact is Mahadev Chede’s place in the village. We aren't a big business with a lot of money; we are just a collection of local farmers who want to do things a bit differently. Farming around here can be difficult, especially with the water situation sometimes. By forming this company, we can share some of the risks and the costs that come with growing crops. It’s a very basic setup. We meet up when we need to, usually to talk about what we’re planting or how we’re going to get the harvest to the market. Everyone in Sarola knows Mahadev, so it was the easiest place to set up our base. We don't spend much time on fancy letters or advertisements. Most of our day is spent in the fields or looking after the livestock. It is a hard way to make a living, but it is what we know. Being part of Chede Agro just gives us a bit of a safety net. We try to help each other out with tools or advice when things get tough. It’s not a polished operation, but it’s real and it’s ours. We are just trying to keep the farming tradition going in Osmanabad as best as we can manage. That is really the whole story.
