Vaadi Herbals Pvt. Ltd. is based in Rajvaidya Bhawan, right on the main G.T. Road in Shahdara. The building has that old-school Delhi charm, and being at number 285 means we are right in the thick of things. The traffic outside is constant—lots of horns and rickshaws going past all day long. Rajvaidya Bhawan is a sturdy old place with thick walls that keep it a bit cooler than the street outside. Inside, it is a maze of different rooms and storage areas. We have been here for quite some time, so we know all the quirks of the plumbing and which light switches do not work. The front office is where we handle the phone calls and the paperwork, while the back is mostly for the herbal stock. We have a lot of stairs to climb, which keeps us on our toes. It is a very traditional atmosphere, not like those glass buildings you see in Gurgaon. We have a small corner where we keep a stove for making tea and warming up our tiffins. The neighbors are mostly other long-standing businesses, so we all look out for each other. Sometimes the dust from G.T. Road gets in, so we are always wiping down the desks. It is a busy, noisy, and very real place to work. We like the history of the building and the fact that everyone in Shahdara knows where we are.
