Navin Shahdra is one of those places where the streets are always narrow and full of life. Our office for Lifestyle International is at B-9, and it’s right in the heart of all that energy. It’s a bit of a squeeze getting through the lanes sometimes, but you get used to the rhythm of the place. We deal with retail and lifestyle products, so the office is often filled with samples of clothing or home items that we are checking over. It’s not a polished showroom. It’s more of a workspace where we sort out the stock and plan how to get it into the stores. There are racks of clothes standing next to old filing cabinets, and the overhead lights flicker a bit when the AC kicks in. Most of us have been working in retail for years, so we know the market and the people pretty well. We don't spend much time on fancy speeches about fashion; we just worry about whether the quality is right and if the shipments are going to arrive on schedule. It’s a lot of back-and-forth with suppliers and store managers. We eat our lunch together in the back room and talk about the cricket or the traffic. It’s just a normal job in a busy part of Delhi, and we try to do it as well as we can without making a big fuss.
