United Engg. Works Amit Engineering Works

United Engg. Works Amit Engineering Works is located at 1208, Bara Bazar in Kashmere Gate. If you have ever been to Kashmere Gate, you know how incredibly crowded and old the buildings are. Our shop is right in the thick of it. Bara Bazar is a place where you can find almost anything if you look hard enough, and we have been a part of that landscape for quite a while. The shop itself is small and packed with all sorts of engineering parts and tools. It is dusty and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it feels like home to us. There is always a lot of shouting and the sound of rickshaws outside our door. We don't have a website or any fancy brochures. We just rely on the fact that people know we are here at number 1208. We spend our days talking to people who come in looking for specific parts or help with a repair. It is a lot of manual work and our clothes usually end up pretty dirty by lunch. We have tea from the guy who walks around with the kettle every morning. The space is tight, and we have to climb over things sometimes, but it is how we have always done it. It is an honest living in a very old part of Delhi. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in.
