Sugan Arts is located right in the middle of the chaos that is Chandni Chowk. Specifically, we are at 2978 in Gali Shiv Saimal. If you’ve ever been to this part of Delhi, you know how narrow the lanes are. You have to watch your step because of the uneven stones and the carts moving past. Our shop is old. It has that smell of old wood and paper that stays with you. We don't have a lot of lights, so it’s a bit dim inside even during the day. We’ve been in Gali Shiv Saimal for a long time. My father was here before me, and things haven't changed much. We still use a physical ledger for most things. The fans are noisy, but they keep the air moving. People come in from all over, looking for this and that. We don't have a fancy display. Things are stacked where they fit. You might have to wait a bit while we find what you're looking for under a pile of other things. It’s a slow process sometimes, but that’s the way we’ve always done it. The walls at 2978 are thick and keep some of the heat out. Gali Shiv Saimal has a history that goes back decades. We are just a small part of that long story in Chandni Chowk. Every day is the same—opening the heavy locks, cleaning the dust, and waiting for the morning customers.
