We are tucked away at 624 Farash Khana, right behind G.B. Road. It is near the Vishal Transport Company, so there are always big trucks moving around the narrow lanes. Finding the place can be a bit tricky if you aren't used to the neighborhood. The area is very old and the buildings are packed tightly together. We work out of a space that is filled with various fabrics and materials. There are rolls of cloth everywhere you look. The air is often thick with the smell of textiles and the sound of packing tape being pulled. We do not have a fancy entrance; you just walk in past the stacks of boxes. Most of our day is spent measuring out lengths or checking the quality of the latest shipment that arrived. It is a busy environment and we are always on our feet. The light isn't the best in some of the back rooms, so we use portable lamps when we need to see details. We have been here in Farash Khana for a while and have seen the shops around us change many times. We know the local porters and the tea stall guys by name. It is a gritty part of the city, but it is where the real work happens. We just stay focused on getting the orders ready for the next truck to pick up. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until night.
