Indraprastha Traders

Kashmere Gate is a hectic place to work, especially on Lothian Road. Our shop, Indraprastha Traders, is at number 1673. If you’ve ever been down this way, you know how the traffic and the noise can get. We’ve been here long enough that we don’t even notice the horns anymore. We trade in all sorts of goods, mostly whatever our customers are looking for that week. The shop is narrow and stacked high with inventory. We use every inch of space we have, even the corners under the stairs where we keep the cleaning supplies. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you’ll usually find one of us sitting behind the counter drinking chai while we wait for the next delivery. Lothian Road has a lot of history, and we feel like a small part of that old market vibe. We aren't big on computers; we still write a lot of things down in ledgers because it feels more reliable when the power goes out. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to clear everything out to do it. People come to us because they know we’ve been in the same spot for years. It’s not a fancy showroom, just a place where business gets done between the crowds and the heat. We stay open until late evening most days.
