R. K. Nanda & Sons

R. K. Nanda & Sons is a family thing, which you can probably tell from the name on the sign. We are located at shop number 41 in Raghushree Market, right by the Ajmeri Gate. If you’ve ever been down to Ajmeri Gate, you know how packed and loud it gets every day of the week. It’s a maze of shops and people pushing carts. Our place is quite small, but we’ve managed to cram a lot into it over the years. My father was the one who started things here, and now we just keep it going as best as we can. It’s a lot of tradition, I guess, but we don't really sit around and talk about it like that. We just show up every morning and open the heavy shutters. The market is always loud and there's usually someone shouting or a truck horn honking right outside the door. We’ve got stacks of old ledgers and some wooden counters that have been here forever. It’s not a modern shop at all. We don't see much point in changing things that still work fine for us. Customers come in, we talk for a bit about the weather or the news, they get what they need, and that’s that. Sometimes we share a quick meal together in the back of the shop when things quiet down. It’s a tight space but it’s been home to us for a long time. We've seen many neighbors come and go.
