Nisha Jewellers

We are situated in Kinari Bazar, which is deep inside the Chandni Chowk area. Our shop, Nisha Jewellers, is at 2958 Katra Khusal Rai. This whole neighborhood is famous for wedding stuff and jewelry, so there is always a lot of glitter and gold around. We have been in this spot for many years. It is a small shop, but we have a lot of items tucked away in the safes. We mostly deal with traditional designs that people around here like for their ceremonies. We don't have a big marketing budget or a website that looks professional. Most of our customers are people whose parents and grandparents shopped with us. We sit on the floor cushions and show the pieces to whoever comes in. It is a slow process sometimes, looking at every little detail under the lamp. The lanes of Kinari Bazar are very narrow, so you have to walk to get to us. It gets extremely crowded during the wedding season, and sometimes it’s hard to even move. We just keep our heads down and focus on the work. We fix old pieces too, and sometimes we have to send things out to the craftsmen nearby. It’s a lot of sitting and talking and checking the weight of things on the scales. We are just a local jeweler doing things the old way. You get a sense of history being here every day and talking to the regulars.
