Naresh Pen Company is tucked into Shop No 9/10 inside Kaushalya Bhawan. We are very close to the Bara Tooti Chowk in Sadar Bazar, which is probably one of the most crowded places you could ever find yourself in. If you know Sadar Bazar, you know it’s a struggle just to walk down the street sometimes. Our shop is filled with pens, ink, and all sorts of stationery items piled high on the shelves. It smells like paper and plastic in here. We spend our days counting out stock and talking to the wholesale buyers who come through the chowk. The noise from outside never really stops; it’s a constant wall of shouting, bells, and cart wheels on the pavement. Because we are in Kaushalya Bhawan, we have a bit of a roof over us, but it’s still hot and cramped. We’ve got pens of every color you can think of, just sitting in their boxes waiting to be sent out. The lighting isn't great, but we’ve worked here so long we could find a blue refill in the dark. It’s a family-run kind of vibe where we eat our tiffin together in the back between customers. We don't have a website or anything like that; people just know we are near Bara Tooti Chowk and they find their way to us. It’s a chaotic way to spend a day, but it’s our life and we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves in a quiet office.
