Our place is right in the middle of Sadar Bazar, tucked away in Gali Mandir Wali. If you know the area, you know how crowded and loud it gets around here. We are at 4116, near Pahadi Deeraj. It’s a tight squeeze in these lanes, but we’ve managed to make it work for a long time. Every morning we open up the shutters and start moving the stock around. Dealing with appliances means heavy boxes and not much space to move. We spend a lot of our time just figuring out where to put things so people can actually walk through. It's dusty and the fans are always going to keep the heat down. We deal with all sorts of people coming in from everywhere. Some know exactly what they want, others just want to look around and chat. We don't have any polished sales talk. We just tell people what we have in the back and what the price is. Sometimes the delivery trucks can't even get down the gali, so we have to carry stuff by hand. It's hard work and your back definitely feels it by evening. There’s a temple nearby, so we hear the bells and the prayers throughout the day. It gives the street a certain feel. We aren't some giant showroom with bright lights. It’s just us, some appliances, and a lot of boxes in a very busy part of town. We just try to keep things moving.
