Durga Power Tools

We are situated at 3964/43 on G B Road in the City Market. If you know the area, you know it’s always moving. There is a lot of noise from the traffic and the other shops nearby. Durga Power Tools is basically a room filled with machines and parts from floor to ceiling. Sometimes it feels like there is barely enough room to turn around. We deal with all sorts of power tools, mostly things that people need for construction or home fixes. It’s a lot of grease and dust, so we don't wear our best clothes to work. The shop opens up early and we stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. There isn't any fancy carpet or air conditioning here. We just have a few old fans that do their best against the heat. Most of our customers are workmen who need something fixed or a new part for their drill. We talk about the machines and what works for which job. It’s all very practical stuff. We don't spend money on ads. People just know where we are. Often, we are just sitting on stools out front when things are slow, watching the crowds go by. It’s a gritty part of the city, but it’s where all the real work happens. We just try to keep the tools in good order and help people out without making a big fuss about it.
