It’s one of those places where history is written into the walls. Our shop is tucked away among hundreds of others, and it’s been that way for a long time. The space is filled from floor to ceiling with containers and bags. There isn't much room to walk, so you have to be careful where you step. We don't have fancy lights or a reception desk. It's just a counter, some old wooden stools, and the ledgers we use to keep track of things. The sounds of the market—shouting, bells, and the wheels of carts on the stone—are constant. We've seen the market change over the decades, but our spot stays pretty much the same. Most of the people working here have been with us for years, and they know where every single item is kept without having to look at a list. It’s a bit chaotic to an outsider, but there’s a system to it all. We open up early when the air is still a bit cool and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. It’s a hard-working environment, and we wouldn't have it any other way. It is what it is.
