If you’ve ever been down toward Ajmeri Gate, you know how packed the streets are with people and carts. Our shop is at 4007/35A, and it’s right in the thick of it. There are pipes, valves, and various hoses everywhere you look inside. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a long time, and we know most of the other shopkeepers on the block. It’s an old building, so the walls are thick and the ceilings are high, which helps keep it a bit cooler when the sun is out. We deal with all sorts of pneumatic parts. Customers come in with old worn-out pieces looking for a match or a replacement. It’s usually quite noisy outside with the rickshaws and the shouting, but inside we just focus on the inventory. We spend a lot of time counting stock and moving heavy boxes around. The stairs are narrow, so we have to be careful when moving the heavier hydraulic gear up and down. We don't have a website that we update or any of that stuff. Most people just know we’re here. We sit on plastic chairs and drink tea while we wait for the next delivery truck to arrive. It’s a bit of a maze of shelves, but we know exactly where every bolt and fitting is kept. The air always smells a bit like rubber and iron. It’s just an honest way to spend the day, working in a part of the city that never really stops moving.
