We’ve been running Ess Pee Laser Fabrics out of Sector 10 for a good while now. Our spot at C-62 is usually pretty busy, especially in the mornings when we first get the machines warmed up and the coffee going. If you walk in, you’ll likely see bits of fabric scraps all over the floor because we don’t always get a chance to sweep until the very end of the day when things quiet down. Dealing with laser cutting means the work has to be fairly precise, but our actual workspace is a bit more lived-in and messy than you might expect. It’s mostly just us working through piles of fabric rolls and making sure the machine settings are right so the edges don't fray too much. Sector 10 is a decent area to be in for a business like ours, though finding a parking spot can be a real headache some days for us and the delivery drivers. We try to keep things very simple here. There aren't any fancy reception desks or people walking around in suits. Just the sound of the equipment humming and that particular smell of the shop. Sometimes the power cuts out unexpectedly and we just sit outside on the steps for a bit until it comes back on. It's not a big corporate operation at all, just a place where we get the daily work done. We know most of the people on the block by now. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we usually have a big old fan going near the back door to keep the air moving.
