The Dance Institute

Our spot is at number 58 on Pusa Road, which is a pretty well-known stretch if you spend any time in this part of the city. We’ve been in this building for quite some time, and you can definitely tell by the way the stairs creak when you walk up to our floor. It’s an older building, but it has a bit of character that you don't find in the newer glass blocks they’re putting up everywhere. Inside, the rooms are decent-sized, though we’ve had to get creative with how we store all our gear and equipment. There’s usually a pile of bags in the corner and a few stray jackets left behind on the chairs. We spend most of our time here just getting through the daily schedule. It starts early and usually ends pretty late, especially on the weekends. The walls are thin enough that you can hear the traffic from the main road, but once the music starts, that usually fades into the background. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who handle everything from the cleaning to the teaching. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We don’t go in for big marketing or anything like that. People mostly find us because they live nearby or they’ve seen us while stuck in traffic on Pusa Road. It’s just a simple place for people who want to learn a few moves and have somewhere to go.
