Sachdeva Fast Food Centre

You can find us right on Palwal Railway Road, which is a pretty loud and dusty place most of the time. The trains go by not too far away, and you can hear the horns blowing all through the day. Sachdeva Fast Food Centre is just a basic shop where we cook up things like samosas, pakoras, and maybe some noodles if the stove is hot enough. We get a lot of people who are just passing through on their way to the station or coming home from work. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of boots over the years. We don’t have a lot of tables, so people mostly stand around outside or take their food in a paper bag. The oil in the big kadhai bubbles from early morning until we turn the gas off at night. It gets smoky in here when we’re frying things, so we keep the door wide open. Sometimes the cows wander by on the road and we have to shoo them away from the entrance. It’s a busy life on Railway Road and we’re just a small part of it. We don't have a menu printed on paper; most people just look at what we’ve made and point. The tea is always hot, and the sugar is kept in a big plastic jar that’s started to yellow. It’s just a normal place for normal people.
