Newgen Music Dance Academy

We opened up here in Govindpuri 500/5-A quite a few years back now. It was just a couple of empty rooms at the start, but we brought in some old instruments and mirrors and it started to feel like something real. Most days it’s pretty loud around here with the kids learning the drums or practicing their steps for some local competition. We aren’t a big fancy school with shiny posters everywhere, just a place where people from the neighborhood come to learn something new. Sometimes the floor gets a bit dusty after a long day of classes, but that’s just how it goes when people are actually using the space. Our teachers are mostly folks who live nearby or travel a short distance. They know their stuff but they aren't stuck up about it. You’ll see us hanging around outside during breaks, maybe grabbing a chai from the corner. It’s a busy life, keeping track of all the schedules and making sure everyone gets their turn with the harmonium or the tabla. We’ve seen a lot of students grow up here, starting with basic notes and moving on to more complex pieces. There is always someone practicing something in one of the corners. We just keep the doors open and try to help people enjoy music and dance without making it too complicated or formal. It's just what we do here in this part of the city, day after day, keeping the rhythm going.
