The shop is tucked into Sunder Nagar Market at number 26. It’s one of those places that feels a bit older than it looks. We spend a lot of our time moving things around to make space for new pieces that arrive. Nav-Rattan Arts has been a part of this market for years. We get a mix of people coming through the door. Some are just looking around while others know exactly what they want for their homes. Most of our day is spent cleaning off dust or talking to the guys who bring us new stock. The market has its own rhythm. Usually, it’s quiet in the mornings and picks up later on. We don’t really do much advertising or anything like that. People just find us. Our shelves are pretty crowded with all sorts of stuff we’ve picked up over time. It’s not a big fancy gallery with white walls. It’s more of a place where things are stacked up and you have to look closely to see everything. Sometimes we sit out front when the weather is nice. We know the neighbors well and we all look out for each other’s shops. It’s a steady kind of life here. We just focus on keeping the doors open and making sure the items we have are handled with a bit of care before they go to a new owner. Most days we are just happy to see a familiar face stop by for a chat or a quick cup of tea.
