About Handicraft Home India – Art & Craft in New Delhi
We are situated at 440 Gali Sheesh Mahal, right in the middle of Bazar Sitaram. If you’ve ever walked through these lanes, you know how cramped and busy they get. Handicraft Home India has its roots in this crowded neighborhood. The building is old, and the stairs are a bit steep, so you have to be careful when you’re carrying things up. We have stacks of items everywhere, sometimes blocking the narrow hallways. It’s not the most organized place, but we know where everything is. The smell of old wood and various materials is always in the air here. We don't have a fancy storefront with big glass windows. It’s more of a workshop and storage space where the real work happens. Most of our day is spent packing boxes or checking the quality of what comes in from the makers. It gets pretty loud in the bazaar, with vendors shouting and scooters trying to push through the crowds. We’ve lived and worked here long enough that it feels normal to us. We aren't a corporate office with a dress code. Usually, we’re just in old clothes because things can get pretty dusty. It’s a family-run kind of vibe, where everyone chips in with whatever needs doing. We focus on the items themselves rather than making the office look pretty. It’s just an honest place in a very old part of the city, and we like the history of the area and seeing the same faces every day while we load up our small transport trucks.
