Musical Dreams

Finding us can be a little bit of a challenge if you aren't familiar with Lajpat Nagar 2Nd. We are down in the basement at J-10 B, Lgf, right in the Main Central Market area. Being in a basement means it stays a bit cooler in the summer, which is a nice break from the Delhi heat. The market is always crowded and noisy, so once you step down into our space, it feels like a totally different world. It’s not a massive place. We have divided the area into a few small sections using some wooden partitions. You can usually hear a bit of everything at once—someone practicing chords in one corner and maybe a singer in the other. We don't have the most modern furniture, and the stairs down are a bit steep, so you have to watch your step. We have been here for a while now, and the shopkeepers around us are all friendly. We usually get our chai from the stall right around the corner. Most of our instruments are second-hand or well-loved, but they get the job done. We aren't here to be some big, polished institution. We just like having a spot in the market where people can come and forget about the crowds outside for an hour. It is a bit messy and crowded sometimes, but that is just the way we like to run things here in the basement.
