Omji Publishing House Pvt. Ltd. operates out of Shashi Garden in Mayur Vihar Phase-1. If you know the area, it is a mix of residential spots and small offices. Our place is full of books, as you might expect. There are stacks of paper and boxes of printed materials in almost every corner. We spend our days going through manuscripts and talking to printers. The air in the office often smells like ink and old paper. It is not a shiny corporate office; it is more of a working space where things actually get made. Shashi Garden can be a bit crowded, especially in the evenings when everyone is coming home. We have a few desks squeezed in between the shelves. Most of the time, we are busy checking proofs or making sure the distribution is moving along. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going at full speed. People from the neighborhood often walk by and peek in at the piles of books. We have been in Mayur Vihar for a while now and have gotten used to the rhythm of Phase-1. It is a busy life, but there is something about seeing a finished book that makes the cramped space feel worth it. We just keep our heads down and focus on the next project on the desk. There is always more work to do.
