Market Cafe is a small spot in Khan Market, specifically in Middle Lane 8. If you know Khan Market, you know how busy it gets, but the middle lanes are a bit more cramped and cluttered. Our shop isn't very big. We have a few wooden tables that we’ve had to sand down a few times. The kitchen is right behind a small partition, so you can always hear the clinking of plates and the sound of the stove. We spend a lot of time trying to organize the storage because there’s just no space. We get a lot of shoppers who just want to sit down for twenty minutes and escape the heat. We don't have a big corporate background. We just like running a cafe. The delivery guys are always buzzing in and out of the lane on their scooters. Sometimes the trash pickup is late and the lane smells a bit, which is just part of being in an old market. We deal with the same vegetable suppliers every morning. The floor gets dirty really fast with all the foot traffic, so we are constantly mopping. It’s not a polished, perfect place. It’s just a small cafe where we try to keep the coffee hot and the chairs in one piece. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that. People just find us while walking through the lanes looking for a quiet corner to sit in.
