Indian Ideas

Our office is on the second floor of Z-27 in Hauz Khas. If you’ve been to this part of Delhi, you know how the lanes can be. We’ve got a small space here where we work on different projects. It’s called Indian Ideas, though the name is probably more formal than we actually are. The stairs up to the second floor are a bit steep and narrow. Inside, we have a few tables pushed together and shelves full of old files and books. It’s a bit cramped, especially when everyone is in at the same time. We spend a lot of time drinking chai and talking through what needs to be done for the day. Hauz Khas is a lively area, so there’s always something happening outside the window. We can hear the street sounds all day long. We don’t have a big sign or anything flashy. Usually, people find us by looking for the number on the gate. We’ve been here long enough that the local chai wallah knows exactly when to bring our afternoon round. It’s not a polished environment. There’s always a bit of dust on the shelves and the printer jams more than it should. We just keep moving forward with our work. It’s a practical setup for a small group like ours. We mostly just focus on getting the tasks finished by evening. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to wait a bit, but we are used to it by now.
