Our center is located in the Patparganj Industrial Area at B-14. It might seem like a strange place for a dance school, being surrounded by factories and warehouses, but it works for us. We have plenty of space here for the dancers to move around and practice their steps. Hamsini Centre For Bharatanatyam has its roots in Karnataka traditions, but this is where we do our daily work in Delhi. The hall has a good floor for dancing, and that is really the most important thing for us. We don't have fancy mirrors or a lounge for waiting. It is a very practical setup. You can hear the bells on the dancers' ankles echoing against the sounds of the industrial area outside. It’s a bit of a contrast, but we like it. The students come from all over, and we spend hours working on the movements and the rhythm. We aren't here to put on a big show every day; we are here to do the hard work of learning and practicing. It gets hot in the summer, and we just use the ceiling fans to stay cool. We don't spend money on expensive ads or polished brochures. We just let the dancing speak for itself. It is a dedicated space for people who want to learn, tucked away in a busy corner of Patparganj.
