About Global Handicraft – Art & Craft in New Delhi
We have been here at 34 Sunder Nagar Market for quite some time now. Global Handicraft is where we spend most of our daylight hours, surrounded by stuff that people make with their hands. It’s a busy spot, especially on weekends when the market gets crowded with folks looking for something specific or just passing through. My desk is usually covered in papers and small bits of things we need to sort out. It isn't always tidy, but we know where everything is. The shop isn't huge, but we make use of every corner of space. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late and we have to move boxes around just to get through the door. The neighbors are nice enough, and we usually get tea from the guy down the street in the afternoons. Working here feels like being part of the neighborhood. People stop by to chat or ask directions, and we don’t mind. It’s just how it goes in a place like this. We deal with all sorts of crafts, mostly things we think look okay and that someone might want for their home. There’s no big secret to what we do. We just open up in the morning, handle the inventory, and close when it gets dark. It gets a bit dusty with all the items sitting on the shelves, so we spend a lot of time wiping things down. It's just us here, keeping things running at Global Handicraft.
