You can find Prashant Book Agency on the first floor of 4263 A/3 along Ansari Road. For anyone who knows Delhi, Ansari Road is the heart of the book world, and we are right there in the middle of all those stacks of paper and ink. Our office is up on the first floor, which helps us stay a little bit away from the noise of the street level, though it’s still pretty lively. We aren’t a big bookstore where you browse the aisles for hours. It’s more of an agency where we handle orders and move stock around. The shelves are packed high with all sorts of titles, and sometimes there are boxes in the hallway when a new shipment comes in. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and we know the book trade inside and out. It’s a lot of manual work—carrying heavy bundles and keeping track of countless invoices. We don’t use any fancy systems or corporate jargon. It’s just us, the books, and the phone ringing with people looking for specific editions or checking on their orders. We just keep our heads down, manage our stock, and make sure the books get where they need to go.
